Baby I'm Amazed

Oh Halloween, you're gone and you will be missed.
I had a good Halloween. Sure, it was on a weekday and I had to work and go to class, but to make up for it I got to wear my Halloween costume and no one minded. Huzzah! I dressed up as a mad scientist. I wish I'd remembered to take pictures. It's not like I can't just put on the costume again and then take one. I'll do it. But some other time. There were a lot of elements to my costume that I really, really liked: The best part: my wig! It was pouffy and pink, streaked with purple. I bought it at the CVS for about $5 or something. Originally it was labeled as a "clubber's wig" but it's not like I couldn't use it for my own purposes. After I get over the shocking brightness of it, the wig didn't look too bad on me. In a comical sort of way I looked cool! And the pink and purple matched my skintone more than go-go blue ever would have. Next, I work cool lab goggles. That was fun. Then there was my cool white lab coat. Ehe! Fun. And then my penguin tie that people kept complimenting me on. And I got it for a dollar some years ago at the White Elephant. And my most favorite part: my ray gun! I didn't have any bubbling beakers with which to emphasize my mad scientist look, so I used my ray gun cos I'm sure mad scientists would looooove ray guns.

Man, I can't wait for next Halloween. I wonder what I'll be next? I've definitely got some ideas... heh heh heh...!
I guess I'm also especially proud cos I wasn't like those stupid girls who dress up as "sexy" something-or-others, like "sexy angel" or "sexy firewoman" or "sexy earthworm" or something.

Thanksgiving is coming. I'm excited cos this year I want to plan really cool things to cook. And also: my family will be gathering together. Hurray family.

ALSO: Oh man, I really like Clazziquai.

When I Remember To Remember You

I haven't been posting for a while. Life gets in the way. And I also get lazy.

I started school! I still owe tuition and sure, I'll pay it (>.>) but I relish the fact that it's like I've fallen through the cracks and no one knows I'm here. What a wonderful reminder that my school's nothing but a greedy business... that also happens to employ pretty good chef instructors who fled the monster that is CHIC. Anyway. I am in the baking/pastry program. You know what that means... DELICIOUS SWEET FOODS THAT CAN KILL YOU IN A HEARTBEAT! Hurrah!
In the past few weeks I've made pound cake, banana nut bread (I don't recall ever using this much butter in this quick bread...), pineapple upsidedown cake, devil's foodcake, and Swiss buttercream. Anyone see any connections so far? Aka delicious and full o' butter? Good!

I'm working again. Don't know if I mentioned that. Work is good and fun and keeps me sane and happy.

Uh... what else?
I recently rode on a motorcycle for the first time. My friend Linux is going faaaaaaar away and he decided he wanted to see me so we met and then he drove me home. My first reaction upon seeing him pull up on motorbike?

Me: ....
Me: I'M GONNA TAKE THE TRAIN >_<
Linux: Are you really?
Me: ....
Me: YES O_O

But I didn't and I rode on the back and it was fun. My contacts went dry as hell but still it was fun. And it was fast. Ironically, he was "going slow" for me. Sheesh!

I'm doing a catering thing with a friend tomorrow evening and we have to prep, so I'm going to bed. Adieu!

PS: Teresa, the kitchen girl is okay! And it's thanks to Randy, the kitchen boy, for quitting! Yeah! >.>;;

In The Land Of Meat

Went to eat Korean BBQ with my friend Tony. It was awesomely delicious and I must go again. I've been craving kimchi lately. Damn it's been a long time, but I had some last Saturday. Huzzah!

Next week, am going to an apple fest and a cheesecake fest with Tony again. Yeah! Food buddies forever!

In other news, got a job and will be starting school again in October. So scary...
The girl who works in the kitchen with me.... I don't know if I like her yet. I'd like to. I have a feeling I won't. She seems like a douche and poseur... even though if it was between me and her, I'd most likely be one. But whatever! Anyone who doesn't say "good morning" in the mornings, or is at least somewhat cordial to people they are working with are apparently douchebags a certain degree. Whatever, I don't need to like the people I work with. Liking them just makes the job easier. Meh.

Bought some Chinese rock CD. Oh god it makes me cringe. From now on, if it's of Asian origin, I will only listen to it if I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE HELL THEY ARE SAYING. Ignorance is bliss.... =_=

Have been reading Lovely Complex, a manga which is simultaneously funny and sensitive at the same time. Oh unrequited love... how I sympathize. Cos I'm just as loser-ish as the next person.

Okay, getting back to manga and then sleep as I have work tomorrow. Heh heh! >.>

PS: tomatoes are growing awesome. They're the last of the summer I think. Wonderful! And my bell peppers have amazingly produced red ones which I never expected. So sweet and so good. Yay! Next year, am DEFINITELY growing eggplant. They taste so good grilled or steamed.

Anti-Ratatouille?

Oh, how delightful it is to be able to walk out your house and pick ripe veggies. My tomatoes and peppers are growing marvelously. Already my Indian neighbors have asked me for some tomatoes and peppers. I gave them some. It's nice to share when people ask.

I tried to make a chicken stew/ meat ratatouille-like dish with my veggies and some zucchini I had in the fridge. After simmering for half an hour it didn't turn out how I imagined but it was still pretty good. I attribute it to the reserve batch of frozen stock I've been keeping in my freezer that I finally used. I think I'm gonna try to make it again. It's gonna be hard though, since I don't have chicken stock anymore. Maybe I can make do with a half-assed duck broth. I have some duck bones laying around somewhere... >.>;;;
And this time, since I don't have zucchini, I'm going to add cauliflower. It should taste alright.

Nothing else to say that I can think about... I went to Ginza Fest 2007. That was fun. I had chicken teriyaki there. Man, that left 2-day cravings that still haven't fully gone away. And don't even get me started with sushi. I can barely remember the last time I had some (aside from Ginza) that I fully satisfied myself with.

Until then, see ya

Secret Twin?

This has been on my mind the last couple of weeks: I watched "A Hot Dog Program" on PBS where they went state to state/city to city showcasing hot dog stands and talking to the people about hot dogs. While in New York, they happened to speak to a young man who strangely looked like a Mr. DMV, except he had a bit of curly hair. I wondered... does Mr. DMV even like hotdogs? So... ever been filmed talking about hot dogs? >.>
I wish I could rewatch that segment and finally get it out of my head.
